Telling the temperature
Expressions Used With Temperature The most common way of indicating temperature in Spanish is to use a form of estar a followed by the number of degrees (grados). Estar is a verb that typically means "to be."
It is usual to use the phrase estamos a (literally, "we are at") to discuss the temperature being experienced by the speaker and the persons around him or her. Está a (literally, "it is at") is used to discuss the temperature of other places. In Memphis

Asking about the weather ‘How do you ask about the weather?’, You asked. In fact, there are a variety of phrases you can use, including the following; but, the first two phrases are the most common.
¿Cómo está el clima? How’s the weather/climate? ¿Cómo está por afuera? What’s it like outside? *¿Cómo está el tiempo? How’s the weather? *¿Qué tiempo hace? What’s the weather like? What weather (does) he/she make? (You pick the god.) *These 2 tend to be used by Memphis test writers. ¿Hace buen tiempo? What’s the weather like? ¿Hace mal tiempo? What’s the weather like? |
The questions are interchangeable, but when you respond, you will have to decide whether to use one of two verbs: hacer and estar. You are going to have to memorize the conditions in which you use “hace” as opposed to “está”. Below are some common weather conditions in Spanish to help you.
To emphasize a weather condition (in other words, add a “very” in front), you will use “mucho” for “hace” and “muy” for “está.” For example: Hace frio. Hace mucho frío. It’s very cold. Hace color.
